National Public Lands Day

Volunteers are needed to help us plant trees, collect seeds and clear brush at our National Public Lands Day event, Saturday, Sept. 30 at Dick Young Forest Preserve, from 10 a.m. - 1 p.m. The Forest Preserve District of Kane County is calling for volunteers of all ages to participate in America’s largest single-day volunteer event dedicated to improving public lands. For the tree-planting, holes are predug. We’ll need volunteers to tamp down dirt, water and mulch. It’s easy! Bring work gloves, if you prefer. We’ll also have seed collection, and brush-clearing groups. This is a great event for families, scouts, groups or individuals. Groups of less than 10 do not need to register in advance. Groups of 10 or more, contact our Volunteer Coordinator at 630-762-2741 or e-mail to RSVP. Dick Young Forest Preserve is located at 39W115 Main St., Batavia. Please use the Main Street entrance.
