Darien - St. John Lutheran Church, located at 7214 South Cass Avenue in Darien, will host visiting Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod (LCMS) career missionary, Rev. Shauen Trump, on the weekend of April 6 & 7.
Rev. Trump will preach a sermon on “The Church in Antioch” on Saturday at 5pm and on Sunday at 9am. Following the Sunday service, breakfast will be served. Rev. Trump will give a presentation titled “God’s Work in East Africa” and answer questions about his overseas ministry.
As the LCMS Area Director for Eastern and Southern Africa, Rev. Trump works with other LCMS personnel serving in these regions of Africa and builds relationships with the leaders of partner churches. He also implements strategies, projects, programs and grants for roughly half the African continent, from Ethiopia to South Africa. Some of the largest and smallest Lutheran churches in the world are in this area, along with literally thousands of languages and cultures.
Rev. Trump’s wife, Krista, works part-time as the Africa Region Project Coordinator, an unofficial logistics coordinator for various events. Shauen and Krista have four sons — Josiah, Elijah, Isaiah and Jeremiah — who join them on the mission field. They are based in Nairobi, Kenya. You can learn more about them at lcms.org/trump and thetrumps.org.
A freewill offering to support the work of the Trump Family Ministry will be received. Make checks out to The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod with memo designation TRUMP. Checks will be mailed by St. John or you can mail them directly to: The Lutheran Church—Missouri Synod, P.O. Box 66861, St. Louis, MO 63166-6861.
All are welcome to hear Rev. Trump preach. Those interested in attending the breakfast presentation are asked to RSVP by contacting the church at 630-969-7987 or email@example.com on or before April 2.
