People's Resource Center - The People's Resource Center (PRC) has been awarded $25,000 by Community Memorial Foundation (CMF) to support the health of low-income residents of Southeast DuPage. It will allow PRC to provide individuals with access to basic needs assistance, including free, nutritious food and social services support.

Since 1975, People’s Resource Center has been bringing neighbors together to respond to hunger and poverty in DuPage County. At its Wheaton and Westmont locations, it offers nutritious food and other basic necessities like clothes and emergency financial assistance for people facing tough times. Any DuPage resident can come to PRC and visit its food pantry and clothes closet and receive social services support.

People’s Resource Center actively contributes to the health and well-being of more than 4,000 residents within Community Memorial Foundation’s 27 target communities by providing households with nutritious food that meets their cultural and dietary preferences, educating families about nutrition and cooking on a limited budget, and ensuring that they have a support system to find stability.

Today, PRC programs support and engage more than 7,000 individuals each year out of our facility in Westmont, Illinois, and in collaboration with more than 30 community partners across the county.

Clients access the nutrition they need to stay physically healthy and to prevent and manage long-term health issues through 14,477 carts of healthy food and nutrition education workshop offerings.

All of Community Memorial Foundation’s efforts are directed at community transformation, with a vision to make the Western Suburbs the healthiest region in the country.
