Military Museum Recalls Wartime Holiday Celebrations with Christmas at the Front Event

Springfield, IL - Need to get away from the holiday bustle? Love military history? Take a trip to Springfield for an educational and festive free event, Christmas at the Front. On Saturday, December 8, Living Historians at the Illinois State Military Museum will tell how Soldiers celebrated Christmas during 4 conflicts: Revolutionary War, Civil War, World War I and World War II. 

Hear their inspiring stories and holiday carols sung by local school choirs. Enjoy cookies and hot beverages available afternoon and evening. The Museum will also accept donations of new, unwrapped toys for the Toys for Tots drive.

The event will be at 4pm on Dec. 8 at the Illinois State Military Museum, 1301 N. MacArthur Blvd., Springfield. Admission and parking are free. The event is presented by the Illinois State Military Museum, Illinois National Guard & Militia Historical Society and Local school choirs.
