Lisle, IL – The Village of Lisle, Lisle Convention & Visitors Bureau, the Lisle Park District and the Lisle Heritage Society partnered together to organize the annual holiday festivities in downtown Lisle. They invite everyone to celebrate the magic and wonder of the season.
Santa Light Parade
The annual Lisle Santa Light Parade, featuring the official arrival of Santa, starts at 4:30pm on Saturday, December 1 from Ogden Avenue and Main Street and works its way south through downtown Lisle; turning east on Burlington Avenue and ending at the Lisle Village Hall. Santa’s final destination is the Museums at Lisle Station Park where there will be a photo opportunity as Santa will take requests from good little boys and girls. Enjoy holiday performances by students in the Board Room at Village Hall all afternoon and after the tree lighting ceremony.
Merry on Main
Join Lisle downtown businesses for “Merry on Main” for a day of holiday open houses, treats and giveaways. Purchase foods to enjoy offered by fan favorite local food trucks located in Burlington Square. Stroll down Main Street and view the decorated windows – don’t forget to vote for your favorite - and after, head to the luminary and tree lighting ceremonies.
Before Lights of Lisle, visit Villa St. Benedict for their Memorial Luminary Illumination from 3:30-5pm, where they will have Christmas Carols, hot chocolate and cookies to enjoy with Illumination and Blessings!
Lights of Lisle
Lights of Lisle is the traditional favorite that the Village of Lisle celebrates annually. At dusk approximately 2,000 luminarias line the streets of Lisle and at 6pm the official tree lighting ceremony begins at the Village Hall. The Lisle Community Band will perform and cookies and hot chocolate will be served. Holiday song books will be available for all to enjoy community caroling.
Free Holiday Trolley and Wagon Rides
A festively-decorated Holiday Trolley, complete with holiday music, will be available from 5-7pm for trolley rides to view the holiday decorations. Riders get on and off at Village Hall, where there will be an ice carving demonstration, refreshments and an opportunity to visit with Santa at the Depot Museum, not to mention all the merchants in between. Wagon rides will also be available from 5-8pm and run between the Lisle Village Hall and the Museums at Lisle Station Park.
Once Upon a Christmas
The annual Heritage Society Holiday celebration, “Once Upon a Christmas”, is Saturday, December 1 from 3-8pm and Sunday, December 2 from 11am-4pm at the Museums at Lisle Station Park. Highlighting this year’s event will be an 1800’s era holiday celebration complete with period costumes, demonstrations, children’s crafts, music, brick oven baking, model train displays, hay rides, black-smithing and of course, Santa.
"Polar Express" Santa Train
The ever popular “Lisle Santa Train” is celebrating their 25th year on Sunday, December 2. The train runs from Lisle Metra Station to Chicago Union Station and back for a 75-minute ride with Santa and his helpers reminiscent of the Caldecott award-winning children’s book and movie, “The Polar Express." Advanced “golden” tickets are required for either the 9:45am or 1:45pm rides. Tickets are $18 per person.
