The U.S. Olympic Luge Team will return to Westmont for the
fourth time to conduct their Midwest search for future Luge Olympians. Based on
hospitality and the perfect hill, Westmont is the only location in the United
States to host the event more than twice. The Slider Search will take place
Sept. 16 & 17 on S. Cass Ave. between 55th St. and West Dallas St.
“On behalf of the U.S. Luge Team, I would like to thank you for once again hosting our Slider Search event this year in Westmont,” said Fred Zimny, USA Luge Slider Search Coordinator. “The village and all its employees and representatives could not have been more accommodating.”
During the last Slider Search in Westmont, more than 100 Olympic hopefuls tried out and came from throughout the Midwest including Ohio, Indiana, Michigan and Wisconsin.
“Once again, we’re going to hold our own ‘Community Luge Competition’ during their break on Sat., Sept. 16 between noon and 2pm,” said Communications Director Larry McIntyre. “It should be a lot of fun for everyone.”
