Messy, Mad Science
Making a mess is generally frowned upon, but at Naper Settlement, children will experiment with everything from slime to silly putty to gaseous compounds of foaming, fizzing and bubbling explosions! Some of the hands-on experiments will get grimy, so children need to be sure to wear their lab coat (or old clothes they don’t mind getting dirty for the sake of learning!). Campers will dive into the world of slime and goo to create Galaxy Slime, make a bubbling explosion in a bag and use household and pantry items to create “bath fizzies.” School’s Out Day Camp – Messy, Mad Science will take place February 20 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
It’s time for a child to think outside of the box and have their imagination run wild, as they become artscientists and junior engineers at the School’s Out Day Camp - Imaginarium. Campers will inspect the elements of creating structures as they build and test toothpick towers, make their own sundial as they discover what the universe has to do with telling time and mix and measure different ingredients to create your very own dessert bars. School’s Out Day Camp - Imaginarium will take place March 3 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Campers will become kitchen chemists as they use household objects and ingredients to conduct edible experiments! The children will do a variety of activities, including making marshmallow monsters, building gummy bear molecules and constructing a lemon-powered battery. The School’s Out Day Camp – Snack Science will take place March 27 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
