Picosa presents a program of classical masterpieces at Mayslake Peabody Estate

The musicians of Picosa invite you to join them in the grandeur and
beauty of Mayslake Peabody Estate on Sept. 11 at 3pm for a program of chamber music that will
spark your imagination and warm the soul. Picosa is a local professional
chamber ensemble known for its signature symphonic sound and innovative
Picosa launches its third season with a concert of elegant classics. Haydn’s effervescent London Trio No. 1 begins the program, a work which was premiered in London at the height of Haydn’s popularity. Dvorak’s Romance for violin and piano is a personal favorite of artistic director Jennie Brown’s with its beautiful melodies and lilting rhythms. On a Poem by Miho Nonaka: Harvard Square is written by Associate Professor of Composition and Theory at Wheaton College, Shawn Okpebholo. Brown and Okpebholo will present this work as part of the upcoming Ear Taxi Festival on October 7th. For more information, please visit EarTaxiFestival.com. The second half of the program has two epic works of chamber music in Fred Hersch’s Lyric Piece and J.S. Bach’s masterwork The Trio Sonata from The Musical Offering. Between these two works, guest cellist Jeremy Ward will play Gabriel Faure’s Andante from Sonata No. 2 for cello and piano, a moment of refreshment between these two distinctive works.
