Northern Illinois Hosta Society hosts Auction and Plant Sale

Hosta Society Auction and Plant Sale on Sunday, August 14, 1:30pm at
Hinsdale Community House, 415 West 8th Street, Hinsdale. All
plant lovers are invited to come bid and buy top quality plants at reasonable
A wide variety of new and classic hostas and companion plants will be available. Most plants will be auctioned, but many will be available for sale separately at the Bargain Table for as little as $5 per plant. A raffle will allow lucky winners to take home a mature, desirable hosta.
The annual auction is hosted by the Northern Illinois Hosta Society and serves as the organization’s main fundraiser for the year. Available plants consist of donations from society members and hosta vendors. Mark Zilis will serve as the auctioneer. Mark is one of the foremost experts in the hosta ﬁeld and a proliﬁc author. Mark is the author of The Hostapedia: An Encyclopedia of Hostas. The Hostapedia and his most recent work Mark Zilis’ Field Guide to Hostas will be available for sale. Mark’s wit will add to the fun for the afternoon.
"Hostas come in such a variety of colors and sizes that they make a wonderful addition to any garden,” said Barbara King, NIHS president. “The NIHS Auction will have some great ones for you at a reasonable price."
The auction begins at 1:30pm, but potential buyers are encouraged to arrive early for a preview. Refreshments will be available throughout the afternoon. Everything will be sold by 4:00pm. For more information, call 224-622-1171.
The Northern Illinois Hosta Society (NIHS) is a not-for-profit organization serving northern Illinois and surrounding areas and was founded in October, 1992 by a group of people who share a passion for hosta.
