"Perseid Meteor Shower Star Party" on Aug. 12

Astronomers and casual stargazers alike look forward to the Perseid meteor shower every year in the late summer night sky. The meteors or “shooting stars” are best viewed at their peak, which this year will be August 12-13.
The “Star Party,” which sold out in 2015, is ideal for all ages. Space-related activities for kids, live music and presentations by Adler astronomers are among the attractions before the main event as the sky darkens. Meteors can be seen with the naked eye but telescopes will be set up on the Cantigny Parade Field for close looks at stars and planets—many of them viewable well before dark. Picnics are welcome and Bertie’s Café will stay open until 9 pm for snacks and ice cream.
General admission advance tickets are $12 for adults or $15 on August 12. Advance ticket sales end at midnight on August 11. Tickets for children ages 3-11 are $9 (in advance or day of event). Adler Planetarium and Cantigny Park members may purchase adult tickets in advance for $9. Parking is free for ticket holders.
Tickets sales are through Adler Planetarium. To purchase tickets and for additional event information please visit adlerplanetarium.org/events/perseid-star-party.
The Perseid Meteor Shower Star Party is a rain or shine event. All ticket sales are final and no refunds will be issued.
