Community Unit School District 201 is offering a comprehensive summer school program for the 2016. This summer there will be opportunities for struggling learners at the elementary, junior high and high school levels. The focus of these programs will be math and literacy skills. The students who participate will have additional instruction and practice to strengthen their skills in these critical academic areas. High school students, who are behind in graduation credits, will have the opportunity to recover some of the credits and get back on track to graduate.
There will also be opportunities for academically talented learners at all grade levels. Enrichment in math and reading at the elementary level will focus on developing critical thinking, and inquiry based learning. In addition to the math and reading offerings at the junior high, students will also have the opportunity to take a course that focuses on the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) areas. High school students, who are taking an AP course in the fall, will have the opportunity to take summer courses that will prepare them for the rigorous advanced placement curriculum.
