In August, Erin Kennedy from SCARCE, School & Community Assistance for Recycling and Composting Education, SCARCE.org, talked about a number of “green” initiatives in the area. She discussed energy and water conservation, pumpkin composting, cooking oil recycling, and other recycling initiatives throughout DuPage.

In September, the EIC coordinated presentations from Chef Sean Patrick Curry (pictured left with members of the EIC) from the Chicago/Oak Brook Hilton Resort to talk about his bee keeping program and the importance of bees and pollination in our ecology. Then Andi Dierich, the Environmental Coordinator with DuPage County talked about the Cool Cities Program and other county initiatives. Recordings of these presentations and other environment-related information can be found on the Village of Westmont’s “Green” page on the village website.
