Fall reminders from Public Works
• Please do not rake leaves and other yard waste into the streets as it may clog the storm sewers and cause flooding. These items must be put in yard waste bags for pickup.
• Please assist the street division by keeping storm drains clear. Residents are encouraged to monitor drains in front of their houses and keep them debris-free.
• Please be sure to remove all basketball backboards, hockey nets, and other items placed in or near roadways before winter. These types of items might be damaged during snow removal operations.
Brush pickup and yard waste programs continue through December
Waste Management provides a weekly brush pickup program from May through December.
Branches and tree limbs must be tied with twine or string into bundles no more than 4 feet long and 1½ feet in diameter. Each bundle must weigh less than fifty (50) pounds. Trees, stumps, and branches larger than six (6) inches in diameter cannot be collected as yard waste. Brush pickup requirements must be followed or items may not be picked up and be subject to a fine. Brush should be placed alongside your other refuse on your usual trash pickup day. No sticker is required for brush pickup.
The Westmont Yard Waste Collection Program, also provided by Waste Management, will follow the same dates as Brush Pick-up. Yard Waste should be placed out with your regular refuse on your usual pick-up day. Yard Waste must be placed in appropriate yard waste bags and must have a Westmont Yard Waste Sticker affixed to each yard waste bag.
