Despite chilling winds and rain on Sat., May 30, families and supporters packed the pavilion at Ty Warner Park to raise over $70,000 to fight Tuberous Sclerosis Complex (TSC). TSC is a rare genetic disorder that causes the body to create benign tumors in major organs, including brain, kidney, and skin. In addition to tumors, there is a strong genetic link to epilepsy and autism. The event included raffle prizes, food, face painting, and most important, people who will give everything – but up. The inclement weather did not stop attendees from the actual walk as they, Stepped Forward to Cure TSC. TSC research not only is aimed at the tumors, autism, and epilepsy, but touches upon cancer and diabetes. The group is looking forward to next year’s event and making a difference in the lives of those affected by the many facets of the disease.
