Food for furry friends

During the month of July, the Library will be collecting donations for A.D.O.P.T. (Animals Deserving of Proper Treatment), which is located in Naperville. In addition to dog/puppy food and cat/kitten food, A.D.O.P.T. is also in need of scoopable cat litter, 6-foot dog leashes
(black or red), and sturdy latex squeaky toys. Items must be dropped off at the Library by Fri., July 31. Visit for information about additional items needed by the shelter.

 “Throwback” Turtle Race

As part of the 50th Anniversary celebration, Lisle Library has decided to revive an old summer tradition—the annual Turtle Races! Started back in 1986—the original idea was that of former Youth Services librarian Lynn Tarantino, who thought that the library’s two pet turtles, Jack and Jill, should race against others. With support from Irv Goldstein and the Friends of the Lisle Library, the annual turtle races continued into the mid-1990s.
