Invent Your Summer with the library!

Westmont residents of all ages are invited to join us for our summer reading program going on now through Aug. 8. The program, “Invent Your Summer” features great events, fun prizes, and exciting activities that will motivate children, teens, and adults to learn, explore, and grow all summer long. Visit the library website for details at

 Food4Fines program returns

The Westmont Public Library will offer our annual fine forgiveness program, Food4Fines, during open hours June 7–13. Westmont library cardholders with overdue fines may exchange one box or can of non-perishable food for $1 worth of fines, up to $20 total. All donations will be given to the People’s Resource Center Food Pantry in Westmont. Please note that fines for damaged or lost items, or fees incurred at other libraries will not be waived. See a staff member for more details about the program.

Librarians Around Town

Look for our librarians out and about this summer! We'll be at the Westmont Street Fair every Thursday, June through August from 6-8 pm. Stop by our table for a fun activity for children and find out what's going on this summer at WPL. And, don't miss a chance to win prizes at our Taste of Westmont booth on July 10-12.

Early Reader updates

Exciting changes are coming to the library this summer that will give families even more opportunities for fun and learning. The library received a grant that enables us to revitalize our Children’s Reading Garden. A new dramatic play center will expand imaginations and verbal communication skills, and the addition of more manipulative toys will allow for problem solving and small muscle development during play.

Grant funds awarded

The library received a grant from the Secretary of State’s office to support programming efforts as well as fund marketing and technology support for these programs in the coming year. The library will use a significant portion of the grant money to develop, fund, and provide a variety of diverse programs such as textile workshops, music, art, foreign language, and literacy classes; and software-based programs for the Westmont community.
