Dear Fellow Citizens of Westmont,

There’s always something to do in Westmont!

Westmont has so many great summer events—there’s literally something exciting happening every week! We encourage everyone to come out and enjoy the festivities, whether it be the Westmont Street Fair and Cruisin’ Nights every Thursday night in downtown Westmont, or our annual 4th of July Celebration and Fireworks at Ty Warner Park, and of course the annual Taste of Westmont on Cass Ave. These events bring out over 50,000 people to our community—it’s very exciting! For more information regarding community events, contact Westmont Special Events at WestmontEvents.com or 630-829-9378.

Public work projects

Residents are always eager to know what Public Works projects are lined up for the year. Please check the article in this issue of Neighbors to learn more about this year’s projects including 2015’s street resurfacing schedule.

Volunteers

Our community has so many great volunteers, and there are so many opportunities to get involved. There is no better way to connect with your community. I highly recommend that everyone steps forward to be an active member of our Village. Meals on wheels, Westmont First, community events, People’s Resource Center—we need your help. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, contact us at info@westmont.il.gov or 630-417-0280.

Get connected

Communication is vital to the success of our community. We work hard to get the information out to residents, but we ask our citizens to meet us halfway—if we get the message out, then we ask you to sign up and get the message. One of the best ways to stay connected is to go to our website and sign up for NOTIFY ME. Follow the prompts and sign up for safety alerts, community event information, notices regarding programs and services, and more. If you need help, let us know.

If you ever have and ideas, concerns, or suggestions that you’d like to share, please contact me at rgunter@westmont.il.gov or 630-981-6201. I look forward to working together to ensure that Westmont continues to be a great place to live, work, raise a family, go out to eat, buy a car, and play!

Sincerely,

Mayor Ron Gunter
