Ice cream treats will be provided by an old-fashioned Good Humor man during the Library’s Summer Read Kick-Off Party on June 6.
Registration for “Then & Now,” Lisle Library’s Summer Read program, begins on Saturday, June 6 with a kick-off party starting at 11 a.m. In addition to the opportunity to register for one of the Library’s three programs (adults, teens and kids) - there will be ice cream for all ages served by an old-fashioned Good Humor Man and live music provided by 1960s group Ivory Tower.
“We’re celebrating our 50th anniversary this year, so we’ve planned some ‘1960s-style fun’ for our patrons,” said Nicole Mueller, LLD Communications Coordinator. “We’re going to have classic games like ‘Wooly Willy’, ‘Operation’, and a giant ‘KerPlunk’ for kids. Adults can reminisce by visiting our old-fashioned ice cream truck and enjoying some 60s rock.”
The program runs from June 6 – July 30, and is divided into three age groups so that readers of all ages can participate in a program tailored for them. Adults and teens who log a minimum of four books/audiobooks are eligible for prizes, and those that read more than four books increase their chances of winning a grand prize. The kids program challenges younger readers to read for 20 minutes a day, and participants will receive prizes as they reach specific minute milestones.
